About Us

The Two Sawyers is an authentic example of a 17th century public house.

The Pub

The traditional features of this historic site are carefully preserved from the original wooden rafters that span the ceiling, to the creaky floorboards and slate tiles that have been traversed for over 2 centuries.
  • The Two Sawyers is run by Paul and Chantelle.  We a great selection of real ales, lagers and spirits and serve traditional style pub fare.
  • Our candle lit environment is intimate and relaxed.
  • One of our most distinguishing features is our real log fire that burns throughout the autumn and winter.
  • The Two Sawyers is a proper pub - come and see!

Ivy Lane

Looking down Ivy Lane, the blossoming flower baskets protrude from the flat facade of the rows of Tudor buildings.  As in most of the quiet side streets of Canterbury, you may casually stroll through the centre of the street to you destination...58 Ivy Lane,  the Two Sawyers!
This is the point where Ivy Lane meets Love Lane, and the rest is history.

As you cross the threshold of the Two Sawyers, there is a feeling of familiarity and ease.  The room is dimly lit, accented by the flickering candle light glowing from the wax ladened bottles on each table.  The brick walls, burdened by the tales of bygone days, host photographs and artifacts that invite curiosity and imagination.  Faded antique books reside in the corner, worn by time and finger tips.  Behind the bar, a lovely barmaid beckons with a friendly smile and a warm greeting.  Peruse the variety of lagers and real ales as another song you know all the words to accents the mood.  So now what?  Steal away to a quiet corner?  Party with your mates?  Or join us at the end of the bar for a chat?

We serve great food!
Monday to Friday noon until 2 pm and 6:30 until 9:30

Knife & fork

The pub menu hosts a range of hearty traditional English fare as well as some new additions.
Try caldeirada, a delicious dish made with white fish, peppers and tomatoes in a white wine sauce.

Our fajitas are still second to none in Canterbury and beyond. (Best I've ever had!)
